Which tyre punctures do we repair?
It is not always possible to repair a puncture if the damage is severe. We have a list of parameters that we check to ensure safety and confirm that the tyre is repairable:
- The damaged section must not be larger than 6 mm in diameter.
- There must be no bulges in the tyre.
- No major cracks in the main tread.
- The tyre tread depth must be at least 1.6 mm.
- There must not any exposed chords.
- If the tyre has been repaired previously using a DIY kit, it may not be possible to repair it.
If the tyre meets the criteria, we will immediately proceed with the puncture repair Hull.
Otherwise, we will suggest a tyre replacement.
How do we carry out puncture repairs?
We strictly follow BS AU 159 guidelines while repairing a puncture. Here is how we carry out the puncture repair Hull service:
Step 1: First, we remove the wheel-tyre assembly from the car and remove the tyre from the rim.
Step 2: Then we inspect the damaged area and remove any dirt and sharp object Step 3: After that, a puncture channel is created from the inside of the tyre.
Step 4: Later, we use a pre-buff cleanser to clean the portion around 10mm to 20mm wider than the tyre repair patch.
Step 5: Once done, we outline by tracing the patch over it.
Step 6: Next, we buff the inner liner and apply a special solution to create a puncture channel.
Step 7: We insert the repair plug into the created channel.
Step 8: To attach the plug to the inner layer of the tyre, it is carefully pulled inwards.
Step 9: We will cut the patch stem,
Step 10: We carry out another check to make sure the repair was 100 percent accurate.
Step 11: The tyre is fitted back on the rim. If we think it is necessary, we will suggest wheel balancing. Otherwise, we fit the wheel-tyre assembly back on the car.
Step 12: The tyre is inflated with the correct amount of air.
